This section explains payment methods for Shifter subscriptions and how fees are calculated when changing plans.
Subscription Types and Payment Methods
Subscription Term
- Monthly Subscription: Automatically renews every month
- Annual Subscription: Automatically renews every year
Payment Methods
We accept credit cards only.
Payment Timing
Fees are paid in advance. The first payment is due upon completion of your sign-up.
Contract Start Date and Billing Timing
For the Monthly Plan
First Payment
You will be charged for the current month’s fees upon completion of your sign-up.
Example: If you sign up on December 6, 2021, at 10:16 a.m. (JST), this time will serve as the contract start date, and the first payment will be due.
If You Have an Existing Contract
If you already have a site on the Monthly Plan, your billing will be adjusted to align with the start date of your existing contract. For the first payment, you will pay only the difference until the next contract start date; thereafter, payments will be calculated by combining the contracts for all your sites.
For the Yearly Plan
Initial Payment
Upon completion of your application, you will be charged for the period up to the end of the month in which you applied.
Subsequent Payments
You will pay one year’s worth of fees in advance, starting from the 1st of the month following your sign-up month.
Billing Calculation When Changing Plans
With Shifter, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan via the admin panel. Billing calculations when changing plans are as follows.
Upgrade (Monthly)
Example: Tier 1 Monthly → Tier 2 Monthly
Billing Timing: Upon completion of the plan change
Amount Billed: The difference in plan fees (shortfall) for the remaining period, compared to the amount already paid for the current month
Downgrade (Monthly)
Example: Tier 2 Monthly → Tier 1 Monthly
Billing Timing: The month following the plan change date
Amount Billed: The Tier 1 plan fee for the following month, minus the difference for the current month (the difference is applied to the following month’s bill)
Upgrade (Yearly)
Example: Tier 1 Yearly → Tier 2 Yearly
Billing Timing: Upon completion of the plan change
Amount Billed: The shortfall for the Tier 2 plan from the prepaid amount until the next payment due date
Downgrade (Yearly)
Example: Tier 2 Yearly → Tier 1 Yearly
Billing Timing: The following year after the sign-up date
Amount Billed: The Tier 1 plan fee for the following year, minus the difference for the current year (the difference will be applied to the following year)
Refunds Upon Cancellation
For all plans, we do not issue refunds for unused periods.
