Step 5: Let’s Start Editing Your Site!
Click [Go to New Site] to be redirected to your new dashboard.
Step 6: Launch WordPress
Once your site is created, WordPress is running by default. Click [WordPress Admin] to access the WordPress dashboard. When WordPress launches, Shifter will provide a magic link to log in to the WordPress dashboard.
Step 7: Access the WordPress Dashboard
Since each site is pre-installed, you can log in directly to the WordPress dashboard.
Note: Shifter’s runtime is 15 minutes for inactive sites and up to 180 minutes for active sites. An active site is one where a user is interacting with the WordPress admin panel or front-end editor.
Step 8: Create/Edit Posts in WordPress
Once the WordPress dashboard is ready, you can start creating or editing posts, or make changes.
Step 9: Stop WordPress
Once you’ve finished creating, editing, and publishing themes and plugins, return to the Shifter dashboard and click the stop icon to stop WordPress.
Step 10: Build and Deploy
Click [Build Deploy] to begin creating a static version of your WordPress site. The static version of your site is called an artifact.
Optionally, you can add notes to each artifact to track your changes. Generation time varies depending on the size of your site. Shifter will notify you via email when this process is complete, even if you’ve left the window.
Step 11: Access the Published URL
Automatic publishing is enabled by default. You can change these settings on the [Settings] tab. To view your published site, click the URL displayed on the dashboard.
Step 12: You’re all set!
Your WordPress site is now running on a global CDN with HTTP/2 and SSL for enhanced security, and there is no WordPress dashboard running that bots could exploit.
