Support for AMP for WordPress from Automattic is now available on Shifter.
This feature is available to all customers on all sites. It enables instant loading of static WordPress sites optimized for mobile.
What is AMP?
AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is a Google-led open-source project designed to improve the performance of web content and ads[i].
- Compresses HTML, CSS, and JS
- Removes unnecessary assets
These measures speed up delivery to mobile devices.
How to Enable AMP
- Install and activate the AMP for WordPress plugin from your WordPress dashboard.
- Select the post or custom post type for which you want to enable AMP.
Important Notes
Shifter currently does not support AMP pages that require URL queries such as /?amp. We hope to be able to support this in the near future with an update to AMP for WordPress.
