Redirecting a Domain on GoDaddy (From a Non-www Domain to a www Domain)

Here are the steps to redirect a non-www domain (example.com) to a www domain (www.example.com) on GoDaddy.

Steps

  1. Go to GoDaddy and sign in to your account control panel.
  2. Go to the Domain Manager and click [Forward Domain] for your domain.
  3. Scroll down to the [Forwarding] section and click the [ADD] button.
  4. In the [FORWARD TO] field, enter the assigned domain name (e.g., www.example.com or blog.example.com).
  5. If necessary, check the box next to [Update my nameservers and DNS settings to support this change].
  6. Click [Preview] to verify that it works.
  7. Once you’ve confirmed it works, click [Save].
  8. Visit your domain name to verify that the domain forwarding is working.

That completes the setup!

Important Notes

  • Note 1: Our SSL certificate is not installed on GoDaddy’s servers or on the forwarded domain name. Therefore, if you access https://YOUR-FORWARDED-DOMAIN-NAME, you will see an SSL certificate warning or an HTTP error.

  • Note 2: If you check the box next to [Update my nameservers and DNS settings to support this change], the value field will display “Forwarded.”
