If data/file migration fails or the import does not complete
Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check for any error messages and resolve the issues described.
- When exporting files and data, exclude all plugins and cache directories, then import them into Shifter again.
- Try migrating again using a different migration tool. We recommend using the All in One WP Migration plugin for migrating to Shifter.
If an error occurs after data migration and you cannot start WordPress
If you encounter a 500/502/503/504 error or a PHP error, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
- Start WordPress in safe mode, deactivate all plugins, and switch the theme to the WordPress default.
- Activate plugins one by one to identify the one that may be causing the problem.
- If a plugin is found to be the source of the error, deactivate it or use an alternative plugin.
- Once all plugin-related issues have been resolved, generate an artifact and verify that no errors occur. During debugging, be sure to disable automatic deployment before creating the artifact.
- Restart WordPress, enable the theme you wish to use, and monitor for any errors or issues.
- If you determine that a theme is causing the error, disable that theme and use an alternative theme.
- Once all theme-related issues have been resolved, generate an artifact and check for any issues. While debugging, don’t forget to disable automatic deployment before creating the artifact.
